06 Jun 2008 —  Aldi US Opens Pilot Green Store

In the US, Aldi has opened an environmentally friendly store in East Syracuse, New York.

• The store features LED lighting in the coolers, more efficient refrigeration technologies, and new energy management systems.
• Aaron Sumida, a Vice President of Aldi, said, "This is the pilot, the first generation of this store (…) the goal is to achieve a 30% reduction in our utility footprint with this store compared to our older stores."
